Joseph Osmundson

is a scientist and writer based in New York City.  He has a PhD from The Rockefeller University in Molecular Biophysics. His book of essays, VIROLOGY, is forthcoming in 2022 from W.W. Norton.  His research has been supported by the American Cancer Society, published in leading biological journals including Cell and PNAS, and he's currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Biology at NYU.  His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, TIME Magazine, The Village VoiceThe Los Angeles Review of Books, Gawker, The Kenyon Review, The Rumpus, The Lambda Literary Review, and The Feminist Wire, and elsewhere, too.  

His activism has been covered in The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME Magazine (as part of the TIME Next 100), and he’s been featured on NPR, PBS, and MSNBC talking about viruses and queer health.

His book, Capsid: A Love Song won the POZ Award for best HIV writing (fiction/poetry) and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award.  His second book, INSIDE/OUT is now out from Sibling Rivalry Press (January, 2018).  He is represented by Kent Wolf at Neon Literary.  With three other queer writers, he co-hosts a podcast, Food 4 Thot, covering dicks drama, and discourse.
